Leo Salmeron migrated to Somerville Ma from El Salvador thirty-six years ago at the age of nineteen. He worked his first job in Somerville at Market Basket and has been homeless, exclusively under the 93 overpasses in Somerville for the last five years. This is now where construction equipment is being staged, and the homeless living there had to vacate. Like many others homeless in Somerville, Leo was forced to vacate his Somerville basement studio apartment due to building safety reasons as well as a change of property ownership. Leo wakes up each day looking to work as he continues to help support his homeless friends in Somerville, as well as his parents in El Salvador. Leo can be found many evenings at one of Somerville's public gardens, tending to his vegetables when in season. Say hello if you see him.
